The Department of Human Resources is charged with ensuring the Agency provides the best benefits and compensation package to attract and retain quality employees. The CHA also maintains a relationship with CHA employees after their separation by making COBRA benefits available to all departing employees.
Management Training We play a key role in identifying, creating, modifying and presenting training modules that include, but are not limited to, customer service, sexual harassment, violence in the workplace, language training, and satellite and offsite training opportunities. Employee Leadership Recognition Founded in 2002, the Employee Leadership Awards Program is designed to recognize the significant contributions made by employees who go above and beyond their expected duties in advancing the CHA ’s mission. These employees are nominated by their peers, who recognize their value demonstrated through customer service, leadership, commitment and dedication. University Partnerships and Student Internships The Human Resources Department developed partnerships with more than eight Colleges and Universities to provide them opportunities for their student body. The CHA offers opportunities for students interested in working in a public agency. Interns are given a variety of meaningful assignments in different departments of the CHA. Students interested in interning with the CHA should forward their résumés electronically to scolbon@thecha.org. Section 3 Public Housing Residents Employment Initiative The Human Resources Department maintains a database of lease compliant public housing residents for employment opportunities with companies that contract with the CHA. Section 3 is a HUD mandate. Earnfare Program The Earnfare Program provides varied job assignments in CHA departments for individuals who are working towards self-sufficiency. Earnfare participants are required to work sixty-eight (68) hours a month so that they can continue to receive public assistance. We provide development opportunities for Earnfare recipients to ensure they enhance their skill sets while engaged in this program. |
