More Housing for Chicago: Grand Openings for Encuentro Square and The Canvas At Leland Plaza

In addition to the ribbon-cutting at Edith Spurlock Sampson and Sheffield Residences, CHA and its partners celebrated the grand openings of two more developments in February: Encuentro Square and the Canvas at Leland Plaza.
Encuentro Square is a two-building, 89-unit affordable housing development at the western edge of the 606 Trail in Logan Square. The $67.5 million project provides housing for families and individuals earning at or below 60% of the Area Median Income (AMI), with 55 apartments supported by CHA Project-Based Vouchers.
The Canvas at Leland Plaza is a new Equitable Transit-Oriented Development (ETOD) at 4713 N. Western Avenue in the heart of Lincoln Square’s vibrant commercial district. CHA is proud to provide funding for 16 of the 63 apartments through our Project-Based Voucher program. That’s an investment of more than $13.3 million over the next 30 years.
