Planning for the Future: Cabrini Now Kick-Off Event
CHA hosted the “Cabrini Now” kickoff meeting on May 8 at Ogden-Jenner Elementary School. Cabrini Now is a community-driven planning and design effort to improve the Cabrini neighborhood through new housing and economic development on CHA properties. About 100 community members, including more than 30 CHA-residents, made their voices heard and shared their vision and priorities for future development in the area.
This was the first of multiple community meetings as CHA works to update the existing development plans while responding to the affordable housing needs of Chicago neighborhoods. In the coming weeks, CHA's consultant team, led by Solomon Cordwell Buenz and All Together, will summarize the community's feedback, share it with attendees and members of the public, and use that feedback to draft plans and designs for the area including new housing, green spaces, transportation and other community investments for more feedback in the future. This process and series of meetings will be used to co-create a shared vision for the area.
