CHA’s Choose to Own Homeownership Program (CTO) allows qualifying Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) and Public Housing families to use their housing subsidy to purchase a home.

CHA has nine Digital Resource Centers (DRCs) located in various CHA family properties and community centers across Chicago. These centers can hold between 20 and 40 people. DRC's are staffed by CHA residents or Housing Choice Voucher Program participants. Each center has computers, updated software, projectors, and Wi-Fi.
What You Can Do There: DRCs offer open computer time, technical help, and special programs for people of all ages. They are open to CHA residents and everyone in the community.

CHA offers support for residents affected by violence in accordance with the Violence Against Women Act (VAWA), which covers violence against women and men. This includes helping them relocate if eligible. The two main transfer types are:

These services check the safety and well-being of your family, provide helpful referrals, and, if needed, help you move to a safer place. We make sure services are tailored to your needs. If English is not your first language and you need language assistance, we will take steps to help you understand the services and information.
You are responsible for your and your family’s safety, which might mean staying with a friend or in a shelter temporarily. Always call 911 in an emergency.

As an MTW agency, CHA has regulatory and funding flexibility to develop locally driven strategies to encourage resident self-sufficiency; achieve efficiencies and cost savings in programs and operations; and increase housing options for low-income residents.
