FCC Commissioner Geoffrey Starks Visits CHA Residents and Staff

Last week, FCC Commissioner Geoffrey Starks visited CHA residents and staff to hear more about the Affordable Connectivity Program (ACP), a federal program which offers discounted internet service to eligible households. In 2023, CHA held nearly 75 events to enroll families in the ACP. That outreach resulted in approximately 1,800 new households enrolling in the program.

Laundry Improvements Make Life Better for CHA Seniors

Over the past twelve months, CHA has been making major improvements to laundry facilities across its senior portfolio. New commercial grade washers and dryers were added, as was new flooring, lighting and paint.

Senior resident Ollie Chambers completes an “impossible” challenge

Earlier this year, CHA employees collected a variety of puzzles and puzzle books to donate to CHA seniors. One of the donated puzzles was the clear 100-piece “Impossible Puzzle,” which included multiple fake corner and edge pieces scattered throughout the puzzle.

Warmer Winter for Seniors

No one knows the seniors at Armour Square better than Zhuo Jun Yu, who has been living there for 18 years and serves as building president. So when CHA distributed winter coats to residents as part of a new pilot initiative in 2023, he heard about it.
