Resident Spotlights: Lanya Scott, Tatiana Belcatro and Tristan Smith

Among the Take Flight participants was Lanya Scott, who got a full scholarship to Loyola University to study nursing. She was inspired by her grandmother, who she’d take to doctor’s appointments when she was a young girl of six years old.

Earlier this year, CHA employees collected a variety of puzzles and puzzle books to donate to CHA seniors. One of the donated puzzles was the clear 100-piece “Impossible Puzzle,” which included multiple fake corner and edge pieces scattered throughout the puzzle.

Resident Spotlight: Molly Wilson named to Mayor's Youth Commission

CHA resident Molly Wilson was recently named to the 5th cohort of the Mayor’s Youth Commission. The Youth Commission meets monthly to give their input on youth-related City projects and policy. Youth Commissioners are between the ages of 14-19 and were selected through a rigorous application process which saw a record number of applicants from across the city.

Cassandra Bernard was a star participant of the LevelUp program. She graduated early – earning $8,250 – and immediately transitioned off housing subsidy. In 2019, she started a career at BNSF Railway Company, where she remains today.

Resident Spotlight: Daijah Pierce

For as long as she could remember, Daijah Pierce was interested in the health care field. But she never expected to get a first-hand view of the profession – until, she was diagnosed with Lupus shortly after starting high school. Lupus, an inflammatory disease caused by the immune system attacking its own tissues, took an excruciating toll. Today, she battles the condition daily.
