- Expanded tenant pool: Over 47,000 families in Chicago use vouchers to assist them in renting quality market-rate units.
- Guaranteed rent: CHA can adjust an HCV participant’s subsidy to cover rent in full if their income changes (based on timely reporting).
- Long-term tenants: Most HCV participants stay in their unit for 5 years or longer.
Plus, CHA offers a few special programs for qualified property owners, including:
- HCV Tax Savings Program for property owners with HCV units located in a census tract with a poverty rate below 12%.
- Incentive Payments for first-time HCV property owners who rent their unit located in a Mobility Area to an HCV participant family.
- Vacancy Payments (up to 2 months) for existing HQS-compliant units that are vacant between HCV tenants.
