General

  • First-Time Homebuyer: You must not have owned a home in the last three years.
  • Grant Limits: For non-CHA residents, combined grants and credits (including seller’s credit and gift funds) cannot exceed 20% of the purchase price.
  • Debt-to-Income Ratio: Your total debt payments must not be more than 50% of your income.
  • Property Location: The property must be within the City of Chicago.
  • Primary Residence: The home must be your primary residence and cannot be used only as an investment property.
  • Eligible Homes: You can buy single-family

Digital Resource Centers

CHA has nine Digital Resource Centers (DRCs) located in various CHA family properties and community centers across Chicago. These centers can hold between 20 and 40 people. DRC's are staffed by CHA residents or Housing Choice Voucher Program participants. Each center has computers, updated software, projectors, and Wi-Fi.

What You Can Do There:
DRCs offer open computer time, technical help, and special programs for people of all ages. They are open to CHA residents and everyone in the community.

Victim Assistance for Public Housing Residents

CHA offers support for residents affected by violence in accordance with the Violence Against Women Act (VAWA), which covers violence against women and men. This includes helping them relocate if eligible. The two main transfer types are:
