CHA Board Approves Funding for Next Phase at Lathrop; Project Will Add More Than 300 New or Renovated Apartments to the Campus

The Chicago Housing Authority (CHA) Board of Commissioners approved funding for Phase IC of the Lathrop redevelopment at Tuesday’s Board Meeting. This long-awaited third phase will focus on the Lathrop South campus (south of Diversey Avenue) and will address all remaining vacant buildings on the Lathrop site.

CHA Scholarship Put Therapist Jordan Henderson on the Right Track

The application period for the 2024-2025 CHA/Springboard to Success (S2S) Scholarship is now open. This year, 125 scholarships of $2,000 apiece are being offered. Any current CHA resident planning to enroll in an accredited post-secondary institution in the Fall of 2024 is eligible to apply.

Development Update: Roosevelt Square 3B

Last January, CHA joined Related Midwest and other partners for the groundbreaking of Roosevelt Square Phase 3B, a $172 million project that included the rehabilitation of 184 existing affordable apartments as well as the construction of 222 new apartments.

HUD Awards Nearly $800K to CHA To Help Vulnerable Families and Youth in Foster Care Who Are at Risk of Homelessness

The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) awarded $778,477 to the Chicago Housing Authority (CHA) Tuesday for 55 vouchers that will help youth with a history of foster care involvement who are homeless or at the risk of homelessness and families whose lack of adequate housing is the primary reason their children are in foster care.
