Historic Gautreaux Settlement Agreement Amendment Accepted by Federal Court

August 31, 2024

On August 1, U.S. District Judge Marvin Aspen approved a jointly-proposed Amendment to the 2019 Settlement Agreement between the Chicago Housing Authority (CHA) and Impact for Equity (IFE) in the landmark 1966 Gautreaux v. Chicago Housing Authority federal lawsuit.

Development Update: Paseo Boricua Arts Building Opens

CHA Hosts Largest Take Flight Trunk Party for Incoming College Freshman to Date

August 31, 2024

CHA and Springboard to Success, CHA’s non-profit partner, hosted 200 incoming freshman who will be attending 60 schools locally and around the country at the annual Take Flight College Send-Off. This was the largest turnout in the event’s 14-year history.

Resident Spotlights: Lanya Scott, Tatiana Belcatro and Tristan Smith

Among the Take Flight participants was Lanya Scott, who got a full scholarship to Loyola University to study nursing. She was inspired by her grandmother, who she’d take to doctor’s appointments when she was a young girl of six years old.

Development Update: CHA Celebrates Two Major Milestones at Ogden Commons

CHA leaders joined Mayor Johnson, The Habitat Company, Mount Sinai and the Illinois Housing Development Authority this month in North Lawndale to celebrate two Ogden Commons milestones: the grand opening of Phase A1 (92 units) and the groundbreaking of A2 (75 units).

CHA Hosts 15th Annual Owner Symposium

Chicago Tribune Highlights CHA’s Success at Housing Veterans

CHA supports Chicagoans who are experiencing or at risk of experiencing homelessness with nearly 5,000 vouchers for specific high-risk populations, including veterans. These are known as VASH (Veterans Affairs Supportive Housing) Vouchers.
